Workshop: A YEAR FOR JESUS (2 units) |
Björn Reinhold |
"I've heard enough, talked too much, I want to do something! But can I? And if yes, how, when and where?" This workshop is for all those of you who are thinking about spending one year of their lives for Jesus in mission. Different kinds of mission opportunities are going to be introduced and illustrated. "I want to tell you a secret: Björn wants to become a missionary!" These were the words form the Pastor at Björn's baptism. Björn, born into an Adventist family, loved mission stories from childhood on. As soon as he was able to read, he swallowed mission book after mission book. And his wish became stronger than ever: "I want to become a missionary!" And his dream became realization. Today Björn Reinhold looks back at mission trips to Germany, Austria, Rumania, Spain and Madagascar. He also served one year of his live as a student missionary in Albania. Furthermore he has accepted God’s call to fulltime ministry and studied theology in Austria and the Philippines. Presently Björn is completing his internship as a Youth Pastor in the Baden-Wuerttenberg Conference and lives with his lovely wife Silvia in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany. |

Workshop: THE TIME OF JACOB'S TROUBLE (4+2 units) |
Carsten Reinhold |
Many advent believers are looking forward to the second coming of Jesus – but they renounce the time of trouble just before it. The time of Jacob's trouble hangs above their heads like the sword of Damocles. Do we have to fear the fear of Jacob already today? Or shouldn't we talk about it at all? Full of courage we'll take a closer look in this workshop at the time of Jacob's trouble, finding out that God will reveal Himself in the end time in a most wonderful way … Does God have grandchildren? Carsten grew up in an Adventist home, but realized in his teenage years that God has no grandchildren but only children. Step by step he got to know and started loving God as his personal father. After recieving the call from God to become a Pastor, he studied theology in Austria and America. Today he is a Pastor in the church district of Lindau. Carsten's biggest wish is that God will finish his work with the youth of this generation. What would it be like to say on day in future: Earlier on we thought we could change the world – today we know that God did it through us? |

Workshop: EVERY DAY LIFE IN - GOD OUT? (4+2 units) |
Erhard Biró |
What does lifestyle have to do with being a disciple of Jesus? We live in a pluralistic world, often without standards and values. Are there guidelines in the bible that will change and positively influence my life? While we ask ourselves these questions, we want to avoid two extremes: (1) Salvation through works by following principles and (2) the attitude, principles are unimportant since they have no effect on salvation. |

Workshop: ABOUT PAIN AND SUFFERING (2 units) |
Gennadi Giesbrecht |
The greek philosopher Epikur once wrote the following: "Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?" If God is almighty, omniscient, loving and affectionate - why is there so much suffering in this world? This and many more questions will be answered in this workshop. Using interaction we’ll use the last unit to formulate a bible study about the topic, so you can give biblical answers to people who deny that there is a God because of all the pain and suffering in this world.

Workshop: IN THE CHOKEHOLD OF SPIRITUALISM (4+2 units) |
Gerhard Padderatz |
For a very long time the US has been an example to the rest of the world concerning democracy, human rights and religious liberty. However, 30 years ago a religious-political battle began, which retransformed the classiest values from America with lighting speed into the opposite. Led by evangelical fundamentalists and supported by millions of religious zealots, a group of conservative politicians want to reclaim the country for the dominion of Christ. Doing this they become more and more willing to use force and violence to reach those goals. Before our eyes the prophecy of the lamb speaking like a dragon is fulfilled, which symbolises America according to the book of Revelation. What role does a perception of a God play, who tortures unbelievers for eternity, and what about the principle, the end justifies the means? With today's America we see the beginning of the end of world history. Gerhard Padderatz has studied theology, history and communication. He was not only a lecturer for church history, but founded his own management consultant company 20 years ago, of which he is still the Managing Director today. He is the president of ASI Germany and vice-president of ASI Europe. In one of his books (Allmächtig, Ohnmächtig, Gerecht? – mission book of the year) he portrays a dialog with an unbeliever. The title of his newest book is: "Mit Gewalt in den Gottesstaat – Steuert Amerika in den Faschismus?" |

They have learned from their own experience and studied what other people have learned from their encounter with relationships. Workshop: THE HISTORY OF THE SDA CHURCH AND IT’S RELEVANCE FOR THE 21. CENTURY (2 units) |
Marc Engelmann |
We are a movement with an incredible story and extensive history. How has God lead us in the past? What inspired and motivated our pioneers to sacrifice everything, including themselves, to carry the gospel to the ends of the earth? What have the past and the origin of our church to do with our identity and mission today? Ellen White once said: "We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teaching in our past history." (LS 196) These questions should motivate us to ponder about the origin and history of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. But they should also motivate us to be part of the Adventist movement here and now. Marc Engelmann is a Pastor in the church district of Nürnberg, Germany. He is married to his lovely wife Wendy. He loves to work with young people encouraging them to live a life with Jesus - discovering new perspectives of life and unfolding dreams that God wants to dream with the Adventist Youth. He loves history, especially the history of our church. |

Dr. Michael Hasel, an international archaeologist and author of many scientific publications, shares his own (faith-) experience in the academic world. Michael G. Hasel is the Director of the Institute of Archaeology and Professor for Near Eastern Studies and Anthropology at the Southern Adventist University.
